Group Exhibition at the Art House Cafe
November 2018
Presented by Artawa

What does Ottawa mean to you?

This November marks Artawa’s 2 year anniversary! Artawa is inviting local artists to contribute to “Our Ottawa”; a group exhibition of works featuring the artists’ interpretation of what their ‘home’ in Ottawa means to them.

For the purposes of the installation, all artworks regardless of subject matter must be associated with a location on a map (address, latitude/longitude, landmark, etc) in the National Capital Region. A short statement of why that place was important to them is also required. All media are accepted; so long as the finished product is on a 12″ x 12″ canvas, preferably gallery stretched (1 1/2 inch thickness stretcher bars or frame) and ready to hang with hooks and wire.  Gallery stretched canvases that have been prepped for hanging will be available for purchase of $10 through Artawa (please contact info (at) artawa.ca). Works must be brought to the Art House Cafe by October 30th.

Digital prints onto canvas are accepted, as well as sculpture, drawing, painting, and mixed media; so long as the canvas does not occupy more than 12″ x 12″ in height and width. Artists may submit more than one piece. Canvases needs to be DRY and ready to hang.

Whether it be an actual painting of a neighbourhood, a well loved Ottawa destination or celebrity, or even a beloved childhood memory, the only requirement subject-wise is that it has something to do with our nation’s capital and can be associated to a place on the map.

The Art House Café will collect 30% commission on all sales. Works must be submitted by October 30th to the Art House Cafe. Exhibition will be available for public viewing November 1st. A public showing (Vernissage) will be held on November 22nd from 7pm-10pm. Sold pieces will remain at The Art House Café until customer pickup, and buyers will be contacted by The Art House Café. Generally, sold pieces remain on the walls until the Exhibition is over. However, in extenuating circumstances (i.e. a buyer is from out of town), pieces may be taken off the wall and sent home with the buyer at the time of purchase. Unsold works will be available for pickup November 30th.
