The Theme: Resonance
To resonate is to evoke a shared feeling: a vibration that continues long after the initial strike. As Artawa celebrates a decade of collective creativity alongside Ottawa’s 200th anniversary, we are looking for works that explore the “echoes” between our personal artistic journeys and the enduring spirit of our city.
Whether it is the resonance of a memory, a connection to the local landscape, or the vibration of a community growing together, we want to see how your work ripples outward.
Prompts to consider
- What part of my art or my creative practice resonates with others?
- What aspect of my work is uniquely mine that I contribute to my community?
- How does my work echo the history of this city?
- What “vibration” do I want to leave behind for the next 10 years?
Participants MUST:
- Be existing members of Artawa (sign up here)
- Reside in the Algonquin Anishinaabe Nation / Ottawa/Gatineau area
- Limit one panel per person
- Complete and return works by September 13th, 2026
- Help promote the show by attending or inviting others or volunteering their time
Filling out the reservation form guarantees you a panel and art hanging kit available for pickup as of April 12th. Kits will be available on a sliding scale donation (retail value: $25). Please provide the required details below. Each artist may only reserve 1 panel to give as much opportunity to others as possible.
We will do our best to provide materials free of cost for marginalized members. We are accepting donations for the materials and for costs associated to the exhibition. If you are comfortably capable of donating to cover some or all of the cost of your kit or looking to pay it forward, please indicate how you would like to contribute in the form.
